Join us to kick-off Spring 2025 by discovering some of the bee-utiful bees that are in our yards, gardens, and local wild places!
Pennsylvania has as many species of bees as birds, but they're easy to miss until you know what to look for!

how and why bees gather pollen yet unwittingly pollinate plants in the process.
and discover that some insects you think are bees are imitators.
easy ways to support native bees.
Karen Campbell authors Bugs for Birds for our quarterly Osprey newsletter. She's an award-winning macro photographer, Certified Pollinator Steward, and is completing her qualifications as a Pennsylvania Master Naturalist.

Birding Trip to Round Valley and Spruce Run Recreation Areas, in NJ

Join LVAS on a Field Trip to Round Valley Recreation Area, New Jersey's largest body of fresh water.
MEET AT 8:00 AM at the Park-n-Ride, Rte. 33 and William Penn Highway
RSVP through Meetup or Mobilize
Although we will observe all birds that we find, the focus of this trip will be waterfowl, which are some of our most beautiful birds.
Expect a nice variety of waterfowl to be at these locations.
This is a carpooling event.
If you would like to drive, please make sure that you have a full tank of gas in your car.
If you would rather ride, then be prepared to chip in for gas and tolls.

Saturday, MARCH 1, 2025 (RESCHEDULED FROM FEBRUARY DUE TO WEATHER)
MEET AT 7:45 AM at the Park-n-Ride, RT. 33 and William Penn Highway.
Join this all day Lehigh Valley Audubon Society Field Trip to Sandy Hook – Gateway National Recreation Area, NJ.
Dress warm, bring drink, snacks, and lunch. We will stop at a Wawa before entering the park, if you would rather purchase drink and food there.
Possible sightings include cool birds, and harbor seals.

"Costa Rica has over 900 species of birds in an area the size of West Virginia, almost the same total as the U.S. and Canada combined!
Such high diversity is largely the result of an extremely varied topography resulting in Costa Rica having 12 of 36 major biomes found throughout the world. It is possible to go from sea level to over 12,000 ft. in a distance of only 30 miles.
This program highlights bird species, including their ecology and behavior, characteristic of different elevations throughout this amazingly diverse country."

Join Lehigh Valley Audubon Society for the Great Backyard Bird Count Party at Wildlands Conservancy in Emmaus
February 15th, 10 am - 2 pm
Stay as little or as long as you like!
We’ll be counting birds from 10 - 2 in heated comfort in the Trexler Education Building. Outdoor walks at 10:30 and 12:30. Live education birds up close and personal at 11:30 and 1:30!
