The next Audubon program will be held on March 20th at 7:00 PM at the Wildlands Conservancy in Emmaus. Scott Burnet will do a program called “Attracting Birds with Nest Boxes, Feeders, and Water Features.”

Sightings from the PORTLAND area, Northampton County: From the Portland footbridge: BARROW’S GOLDENEYE – 1 to at least 3/9 (female) SURF SCOTER – 1 on 3/8 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS – 2 to at least 3/9; 1 on 3/10 Red-breasted Merganser – 1 on 3/8.

Sightings from the BELVIDERE area in nearby New Jersey: REDHEADS – 10 to at least 3/8.

Sightings from the MARTINS CREEK PPL POWER PLANT area, Northampton County: CANVASBACKS – 6 to at least 3/12 REDHEADS – 21 to at least 3/8; 16 on 3/12 Red-breasted Merganser – 1 on 3/8.

Sightings from the EASTON area, Northampton County: At the ‘Forks of the Delaware’: ICELAND GULLS – 1 on 3/9; 2 on 3/10.

Sightings from WILLIAMS TOWNSHIP, Northampton County: HARRIS’S SPARROW – 1 to at least 3/13 (first-winter bird) “Gambel’s” White-crowned Sparrow – 1 to at least 3/13.

Sightings from LAKE MUHLENBERG, Lehigh County: CANVASBACKS – 6 to at least 3/8; 4 on 3/9 REDHEADS – up to 15 to at least 3/8; 9 on 3/9 GREATER SCAUP – 1 to at least 3/8 Red-breasted Merganser – 1 on 3/9; 2 on 3/10.

Sightings from the POOL WILDLIFE SANCTUARY area, Lehigh County: COMMON REDPOLL – 1 on 3/7.

Sightings from the GILBERTSVILLE area, Montgomery County: BULLOCK’S ORIOLE – 1 to at least 3/13 (along Oberholtzer Road).

Sightings from PEACE VALLEY PARK, Bucks County: WHITE-WINGED SCOTER – 1 on 3/7 REDHEAD – 1 on 3/10 RED-NECKED GREBE – 1 to at least 3/11.

Killdeer, Common Grackles, and Red-winged Blackbirds were reported at several sites this past week.
